He is now retired from the corporate world and is fully engaged in creating lens-based art of the subjects and landscapes of the Upper Midwest, a place he holds precious.
David Dexheimer
Industrial landscapes often dominate urban skylines. Even seen at a distance, the tall verticals can define a sense of place. Local structures like the Oscar Meyer smokestack and MG&E’s trio of stacks against an open sky firmly ground the viewer in a specific locale. The paintings that David will present are the beginning of what he hopes to be a more widely-ranging exploration of similar urban scapes.
An Appleton native now living in Madison, WI, David holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from The Kansas City Art Institute. They returned to painting after a several decades hiatus and have actively pursued creative outlets. Now retired from a 23-year career in public service focused on community building and problem-oriented policing, the benefits of time and perspective have created the space for a renewal of creative energy. Most recent exhibitions include Redefining Narratives at Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, Unhinged/Transperience at Weidner Center in Green Bay, and My Voice, My Truth at The Art Garage in Green Bay. David also serves on the Board of Kanopy Dance, Madison, WI.
